Launched over 20 years ago Prestige has become the world’s biggest recreational boat builder with a range of boats from 42 to 75 foot long and in three different configurations – flybridge, sports (they call them express) and motor yacht. According to Prestige, its success was founded on a few simple concepts – providing all the living spaces on one level, 360° panoramic views, and an independent owner’s suite. The latter has been made possible by the move to Volvo IPS inboard engines that free up space midship.
This year, at the Mandurah Boat Show that starts on October 9, Prestige will show the 500 Flybridge, a boat that highlights all three of the above concepts perfectly, in WA for the first time.
The 15.2m boat will appeal to serious cruisers who enjoy living aboard for extended periods, but don’t want to sacrifice comfort along the way. Everything from the forward sundeck, sheltered by an awning to the spacious cockpit opening onto the aft swim platform, is designed to make life on board enjoyable.
prestige 500 1The boat’s most outstanding feature, one that is sure to impress everyone who inspects it, is the aforementioned full beam owners suite. It is accessed via a private stairway that takes you into a cabin that includes a breakfast nook and lounge as well as a private ensuite. The 500 also has a VIP stateroom, forward as well as a third cabin. In another unique move, both of these rooms are set up so the beds can be used as singles or doubles. The VIP stateroom has an island double bed that scissors open to form V-berths while the third cabin has two singles with a filler that turns them into a double.
The living space is all on one level with the open galley discreetly integrated into the rear corner making it the centre of the entertaining area.
The flybridge, which is accessed by an open staircase, features a spacious forward sundeck, helm station with seating for two, BBQ, and large table, is generously sized for a 50-footer.
